Boards and Commissions

Fire and Police Commission:  
The Fire and Police Commission makes rules to establish a system of personnel administration based on merit principles governing the appointment, promotion, dismissal, suspension, demotion and discipline of certified employees of the fire and police departments.

Plan Commission:
The Plan Commission shall prepare and recommend to the Village Council a comprehensive plan of public improvements looking to the present and future development of the village; to recommend from time to time changes in the official plan; and to analyze and make recommendations upon housing, commercial and industrial plans.

Zoning Board of Appeals:
The Zoning Board of Appeals shall pass upon all appeals from the manager on questions of zoning and shall have such other powers and duties as may be delegated to it by statute or ordinance.  

Board of Health: 
The Board of Health acts in an advisory capacity to the Village Council reflecting community objectives and desires in the field of public health and sanitation.

Beautification Commission:
The Beautification Commission shall define beautification objectives and recommend a beautification plan to the village board; encourage civic awareness in beautification efforts and foster increased awareness in beautification; encourage improvement of commercial property by establishing a recognition program; influence quality of new development and improvement of existing properties by reviewing existing ordinance and petitioning for modification as appropriate; review and recommend specific projects and programs to the village manager and/or village board as may be appropriate; and encourage and coordinate volunteer efforts to instill or maintain plantings or other beautification projects on public rights of way.
